Meet the breeder

I want to take a moment and introduce myself properly. My name is Heather, and I am the owner of Living Room Tigers Maine Coon Cattery. If you found us on social media, you may enjoy watching my adorable Maine Coons grow, or maybe you're there to catch a laugh from one of the reels I create with my mischievous and adorable kitties. For whatever reason you view my pages, I want YOU to know that I am grateful, and I am so happy you're here. Whether or not you one day bring home one of my Maine Coon kittens, my goal is to bring a smile to your face and share my love of this incredible breed.

 From a very young age, my life has been guided by a deep love and commitment to animals. At just fourteen years old, after months of dedicated volunteering, I was finally trusted with a key to the local animal shelter - a milestone that meant the world to me. I spent countless hours working with animals there, helping prepare them for their forever families and supporting them through behavioral challenges with patience, compassion, and respect. 

That early experience opened the door to a lifelong passion for animal welfare. As soon as I was able to drive, I became involved in wildlife rescue - participating in oil spill wildlife clean up efforts, as well as the rehabilitation and release of shore birds and other injured wildlife. My journey continued into the Veterinary field, where I began as kennel assistant and eventually trained to become a veterinary technician, gaining invaluable hands-on experience with animals of all kinds. 

Along the way, I also explored the world of grooming and dog shows through a close friend who owned a grooming shop. That experience introduced me to the world of animal competition and responsible breeding in a way I had never seen before. In my early twenties, I owned and operated the cutest Victorian Pet Boutique. There, I continued my rescue work while serving on the  board of a nonprofit spay-and-neuter organization. Over the years, my home was always filled with rescued animals- even my beloved flock of chickens, who were so bonded with me they behaved more like dogs than birds.

Life moved forward into motherhood and family, but my passion for animals never faded. When we brought home our first Maine Coon, I instantly fell in love with the breeds extraordinary personality, intelligence, and gentle presence. That experience inspired a new mission: to help preserve the exceptional qualities of this remarkable breed and share the same joy and companionship with other families. 

And so, Living Room Tigers Maine Coon Cattery was born- built on decades of animal care experience, respect for ethical breeding practices, and a heartfelt commitment to raising healthy, stunning, well socialized kittens who thrive as cherished members of their families. I look forward to sharing this journey with you, and welcome you to my Living Room Tigers Family.
